CORPORATE STRUCTURE
The Society was formed on March 27, 2007 as a nonprofit corporation pursuant to the Texas Business Organizations Code. In particular, the Society was formed as: . . . a membership association of attorneys, and those persons associated in large degree with the provision of legal services, formed for the common business interest of furthering ethical practices by attorneys, and advancing the positive public image of attorneys and the profession of practicing law. The Society is not a law firm. Neither is the Society engaged in the practice of law or in the furnishing of legal services or advice. Rather, the activities of the Society are directed at the improvement of business and professional conditions for its members in general. On June 22, 2007 the Society was granted tax exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. This exemption was granted due to the Society’s operation as a “business league” within the meaning of the statute. The Society is governed under the direction of the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Society has a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary who each have their own duties pursuant to the Bylaws. |
